Hey Hey! It’s a little overdue for me to finally share the full editorial from Wisconsin Bride Magazine (that landed me the COVER PHOTO for that issue!)! I adore this shoot, and wow, were we inspired to create and have some fun with this one. One of my favorite touches was brought in by our bridal stylist Rachel of Golden Style Consulting–the custom hat created just for us by Britt Von Decker. (Rachel’s work for this shoot was even featured in BRIDES!) This team of talent brought ‘Under The Tuscan Sun’ to life…enjoy the escape of these images! XOXO
Allow me to whisk you away today to the sunny summer rolling fields of Sister Bay in Door County, Wisconsin, for a wedding editorial to get your mind quickly off of 2020!!! Goodbye impending winter, hellooooo gorgeous white-and-bright Northern Haus!
I was SO excited to be asked by Kelli of Simply Detailed Wedding to be a part of her incredible team for her vision of a modern-meets-romantic editorial at Northern Haus–a luxurious and modern, custom-built farmhouse style venue in Sister Bay. Her overall design intention of this photoshoot was to create an unexpected juxtaposition of design elements between the modern-day wedding style with chic and slightly minimalist details, with very girly and sweet, whimsical, touches–especially in approach to the florals.
The ceremony site had big floral, with a modern touch with the tent. The feminine, almost fine art floral designs by the incredible Sunny of Ebb and Flow Flowers created a unique blend of contemporary and timelessness. Flowers were in a palette of feminine pink, blush and peaches with subtle hints of a pale lilac. Flowers used in the design were sourced almost completely locally from Wisconsin flower farms and included lisianthus, clematis, Japanese anemones and quickfire hydrangeas. We also used garden roses from Grace Rose Farms in California, flown in overnight. Two varieties of their garden roses were featured, including ‘Distant Drum’ and ‘Moonlight in Paris.’
We had a custom installation made by Cedar and Spice for guests to find their tables, which included modern lattice-style wooden accent work. Our cake from Yield Bakehouse was also soft and feminine, but then featured very delicate flowers and a grouping of agate accents. Emily Rose Ink created detailed line-drawn floral invitations that we contrasted with a geometric, velvet ring box and bold oval-cut engagement ring in a modern bezel set. We also included two dresses with two hairstyles, as well as a real couple for that extra spark!
From Jillian, our fantastic hair and makeup artist—”The inspiration for makeup was glowing summer elegance, using warm pink tones to coordinate with the floral and linen choices. Especially for brides during COVID-19, subtle pops of color bring some light and happiness! For the hair, I wanted to tie in southern glam and big curls with a soft, effortless style. For the reception look, I opted for a volume ponytail with gentle, face-framing loose curls. This is a great look for a hot summer wedding in Wisconsin, letting the back of the dress steal the show. Doing a quick look change is the best way to have it all–a sweet hair-down style followed by a chic, low-maintenance updo to enjoy the rest of the evening”
Thank you to this incredible dream team of talented friends!!! Many of us have the pleasure of working together often all around the Wisconsin–from Door County weddings to Lake Geneva weddings, and just about everywhere in between. Love these ‘coworkers’!! Check everything out below (in excess) cause you know this girl cannot edit down the gorgeousness. We can all use every extra ounce of happiness right now. XOXO
